#NotOnMyIsland: A Powerful Beginning

June 5, 2025

Over the past two weeks, we launched the #NotOnMyIsland campaign with a clear message: Human trafficking is happening here—and it has no place on PEI.

Through 6 presentations across 4 communities and 2 schools, we connected with over 220 Islanders, including students, educators, parents, government leaders, and frontline workers. Together, we heard powerful stories, shared critical knowledge, and took important first steps toward prevention and awareness.

We’re deeply grateful to:

  • Dina Unger, who bravely shared her personal story—not only to inform, but to invite healing. After every event, survivors of violence approached Dina to say, “I’ve never told anyone this, but…” Her vulnerability created a safe space for others to speak truths they’ve carried too long. There is healing in sharing—and power in being heard.
  • The RCMP, for standing alongside us and sharing about trafficking in our province.
  • Everyone who showed up, asked hard questions, and committed to learning more.
  • Our amazing community partners—Dalmac, Red Shores, Centre 150, the Town of Souris, Abegweit First Nation in Scotchfort, The Mount Academy, and Immanuel Christian School—for opening your doors and making this campaign possible.
  • And to everyone who supported our charity raffle earlier this year—you helped fund this entire round of events.

This campaign is just the beginning.
