Volunteer Position: Contributing Writer (2 volunteers needed)
Location: Remote
Commitment: A few hours per month
Organization: EVENforONE
Reports To: COO
Position Overview
This is a low-barrier, flexible volunteer opportunity for writers who care about ethical storytelling and social impact.
As a Contributing Writer, you’ll create bylined blog content that educates readers, challenges myths, and offers practical, trauma-informed insights into human trafficking and exploitation prevention. Writers receive topic guidance, editorial support, and flexibility to pitch ideas aligned with their interests.
We recommend starting with three articles as a trial contribution. If it’s a good fit on both sides, you’re welcome to continue contributing.
What You’ll Do
- Write three original blog articles (approximately 800–1,200 words)
- Use credible sources and trauma-informed framing
- Translate complex or sensitive topics into accessible, reader-friendly content
- Collaborate via Google Docs and incorporate editorial feedback
- Mutually agree on topics, either from suggested topics or pitch your own ideas
What You’ll Gain
- Published, bylined articles on EVENforONE’s website
- A public writing portfolio in a specialized human rights and prevention field
- Editorial guidance and constructive feedback
- Your work shared through newsletters, social media, and advocacy channels
- LinkedIn references or endorsements following sustained contribution
- Association with a respected, survivor-led anti-trafficking organization
- This role is especially well-suited for students, early-career professionals, or experienced writers seeking to contribute meaningfully to social justice and community safety.
Who We’re Looking For
You don’t need to be an expert in trafficking. We value strong writers with curiosity and care.
- Clear, engaging writing and research skills
- Interest in social justice, human rights, public health, and/or education
- Ability to write ethically and sensitively about complex topics
- Reliable and communicative
- Open to feedback and learning
Experience with blogging, content writing, or SEO is an asset, but not required.
Training & Support Provided
- Orientation to EVENforONE’s voice and trauma-informed communication approach
- Topic suggestions and clear editorial expectations
- Support from our COO
A background check is required prior to publishing.
Why This Role Matters
Your writing helps shape how communities understand exploitation, prevention, and survivor-informed responses. These articles support education efforts, influence conversations, and help people recognize and respond to trafficking in real life.
